When was the last time you stopped to appreciate your wife?

When was the last time you stopped to appreciate your wifeIt has been said that behind every successful man, there is a woman.

I cannot count myself to be successful according to our fast-paced modern world in terms of financial accomplishments or career advancement. But one of the things in life that I can be thankful for is having a very wonderful wife behind me.

What exactly do I mean by that?

1. She Listens

I have been struggling quite a fair bit with matters relating to work recently. I admit that I hate my job and would love to quit and do something else if I had a choice. Don’t get me wrong, I am dead serious when it comes to work, but it is just that I am beginning to feel like a square peg in a round hole.

I know my wife feels the burden with me every working day and truth be told, I am hopeless in hiding my stress, frustration, fear, worry, exhaustion and general sense of despair.

This is when her patience in listening works wonders and I continue to be amazed by her ability to put up with all my rubbish and my ranting.

2. She is Supportive

Of late, I have been doing a bit of research on making some residual income stream online. I am using it as a distraction and a way to detox mind from work.

Without doubt, it means that certain days, she takes over my dish-washing duties, bears with me as I get all absorbed in my new ‘hobby’, gets to spend less time with her (more about this in a future blog), allowing me to utilize some of our combined income to experiment (even though she probably knows that I may not make any profit any time soon)

There are no words to describe how much her support means to me and I hope to be able to reward her trust and vote of confidence in a very tangible way in the not too distant future.

3. She is Smart

We are both very different in our character.

She is the one who is street-smart, connects well with people and I would say generally the more ‘charismatic’ better half in this marriage.

When it comes to finding better deals, sorting our finances, getting the household ticking, she wins me hands down. Little does she know that in her own unique way, she has been dishing out nuggets of wise advice for more than a decade in all areas of my life.

I hope our daughter inherits her wittiness.

4. She is Fun-loving

Hey I am the serious guy in the home but my wife is the complete opposite.

She laughs easily and is able to bring light-heartedness using the simplest of ways – such as mimicking television adverts, singing out loud, dancing around the house and sometimes simply being ‘silly’.

Well what can I say – opposites attract. But seriously, and no pun intended, that is one of her most attractive traits.

5. She is still my Best Friend

At the end of it all, I can rest in the friendship element of our marriage.

It means that there is trust, mutual respect, concern and love. It means that I know she will stand by me even though times are bad. It means that we both can be assured that we mean to stick to the vow of ’till death us do part’.

6. She is beautiful in my eyes
Coming to 15 years already, but I still think she is gorgeous.

I hope my wife is reading this!

My fellow husbands, when was the last time you stopped to appreciate your wife?

When was the last time you told her how wonderful she was?

I realize that part of being a better husband is to stop being so stingy in dishing out complemints to our better halves. And when you do, make sure you mean it, seriously.
Perhaps wives too can realize from this simple post that when you show complete support and willingness to stand by your man, it works wonders for the marriage relationship.

Let’s put in some ‘heart’ work into our marriage and may our children see it and mimic the positives when the time comes for them to build their own marriages.
